What we do
Six lines of work.
The name
Why Quorum.
A quorum is the minimum number of members whose presence makes a decision valid. In distributed computing it is the same idea made exact: more than half of the machines in a system must agree before it commits a change.
For a company that builds software and systems, it is the right standard to hold ourselves to: a system should act only at the point where it can be trusted to.
The mark
A letter built as a machined part.
Our mark is the letter Q built as a segmented rotor. Three arc segments form the ring, and a precision shaft passes through one of the gaps and crosses into the bowl. It reads as the letter, as a rotary encoder, and as an engineered component rather than a drawing.
The crossing matters. Stop the shaft at the ring and the mark becomes a magnifying glass. Carried through, it says what a quorum says: the decision has been made, and the system has committed.
